You must not blame me if I do talk to the clouds. ~Henry David Thoreau

How many perfect summer days have you spent just gazing up at the clouds, wondering aloud what each looked like?  Wondering what it would be like to be among them?  Wondering how it would feel to reach out and touch that amazing fluff as it floated by?

This summer, I am spending a lot of time with my head in the clouds and an awful lot of the time, while I'm looking around, I see an elephant.  And, you know, he looks just like that one right over there.  That elephant, my friends, is the Evernote Elephant and he is a key player in the St. Mary's 1:1 iPad initiative.  Our friend, Evernote Elephant, is the symbol for an App that will take student note-taking to the cloud and forever eliminate "Lost Notebook" syndrome.

When Evernote is used, notes are saved "in the cloud" and are accessible on any computer, laptop, tablet or Smartphone that can access the internet.  This means that students can take notes at school on their iPads (including photos, video, web clips) and access them at home using the iPad OR another device that can connect to the internet.  At home, on vacation, slurping a frozen latte at Starbucks, students can access their notes, create new notes or revise notes.

Evernote is just one several "Foundation Apps" that will be loaded on each student's iPad when the devices are configured in August prior to the start of school.  To get a sense of just how helpful Evernote will be to our students, take a look at this video clip about Evernote's use at the Montclair Kimberly Academy.  The students at Monclair Kimberly use Evernote on MacBooks, but, the App is the same on the iPad.  Join me in the clouds and click here - Evernote at Montclair Kimberly Academy.

When you begin to explore the wonders of today's technology, gazing up the clouds takes on a whole new meaning. This year, when school starts, our students will have their heads in the clouds and the sky will be the limit!  I just can't wait!
